Kate Park Memorial Park is a 1.5 acre park next to the Gilbreath Memorial Library in Winnsboro, Texas. In October 2020, the Winnsboro City Council unanimously approved naming the park after Katharine “Kate” Frances Park, a Winnsboro native whose life ended at the young age of 40 from a rare brain disease. “Park” was not just in her name, Kate loved the outdoors, taking walks, hiking state parks and recharging with a dose of fresh air.
With the help of numerous friends, family, colleagues, community members, as well as the support of the Winnsboro Standard Club, the City of Winnsboro Parks & Recreation Department and the Gilbreath Memorial Library, we hope to cultivate this land into a beautiful park for people to enjoy for years to come.

Kate Park Memorial Park will feature:
Gingko trees, Kate’s favorite. With green, fan-like leaves throughout most of the year, the Gingko tree turns a brilliant yellow in the Fall.

An arched cedar and limestone entryway with park signage and an engraved memorial plaque boulder with the history of the park.

A 624 sq ft cedar and limestone pavilion that will provide shade upon the park entrance and a space for outdoor learning and park gatherings.

Numerous benches, picnic tables and limestone block seating throughout the park to sit on and enjoy the park.

6,838 sq ft ‘infinity’ walking trail made of decomposed granite that loops around the park in a figure-eight.

Native Texas plants and grasses that are both beautiful and sustainable.

The entrance to the park is at the bottom of the photo. Follow the ‘Infinity trail’ up to the back of the park and loop back down to the front of the park. The park will have ample green spaces for running and relaxing, along with many Gingko trees and native Texas plants.
Benches, picnic tables and limestone boulders will be dispersed throughout for seating, as well as a large Cedar and limestone pavilion for shade and gatherings.
